My
last semester of college was probably my busiest ever. My car wasn't running
very well, but I didn't have the time to check it out. I just knew it need some
work, but I had no idea how much! Around that same time, my dad hosted a small
Christmas dinner for some co-workers and their families - and my husband and I
were invited.
The dinner included a gift exchange. You know the kind, where everyone brings a
gift(some serious, some not), picks a number, and then chooses a gift in order
of the number picked. Of course, you can always steal a gift from somebody else!
To make a long story short, my husband came home with a gorilla head pencil
sharpener. I came home with an '83 SAAB. As it turns out, the old car would've
needed well over $1200 worth of work to make it roadworthy. There was no way I
could have afforded that! But the SAAB needed a mere $200 to pass inspection -
an amount that was a perfect fit with our budget.
I believe that God provided that car for me. He filled a need I didn't know I
had! Want to know more about how God fills our needs? Read Philippians 4:19!*
I can't wait to see how God provides for my needs in other ways. Oh, and that
old Saab? still runs great!
