The following scripture passages have been comforting to me during the last several days after 9-11.  I hope they will be a comfort to you, as well.

Isaiah 43:1-3  "Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.  I have called you by name;  you are mine.  When you go through deep waters and great trouble, I will be with you.  When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown!  When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up;  the flames will not consume you.  For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."  (NLT)

Isaiah 41:10  "Don't be afraid, for I am with you.  Do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you.  I will help you.  I will uphold you with my victorious right hand."  (NLT)

Romans 8:35-39  Can anything separate us from Christ's love?  Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death?  (Even the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day;  we are being slaughtered like sheep.")  No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love.  Death can't, life can't.  The angels can't, and the demons can't.  Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away.  Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.  (NLT)

John 14:27  "I am leaving you with a gift- peace of mind and heart.  And the peace I give isn't like the peace the world gives.  So don't be troubled or afraid."  (NLT)
